The former CEO of G2 Esports Carlos made a podcast. In the conversation, he talked about the matter of the outgoing CEO and revealed that he still owns most of the shares of the club.
Leave G2 Esports
Carlos: I don’t want to go back to the e-sports industry for the time being, because I have spent most of my life in it, and I have other ambitions. In order to realize them, I must leave the e-sports industry. After leaving G2, I realized that this was a good opportunity to realize my ambition. If I leave G2 in this way, I can compare with Musk’s behavior of leaving Tesla. But there will be turbulence in the stock market. If Musk leaves Tesla after something like me, the stock market will improve. The value of my company is still rising. G2 Club is now running well because I have formed an excellent management team. I am very happy about it.
What happened to me is not fair, but what is fair? Is it fair that some people are born with only one arm? I just accepted it without fear. No matter what happens, I will face it without fear, because I am ready. In addition, I don’t think I will return to G2. The club is successful without me.
Current management in G2
I did not participate in the management of G2, but I own most of the shares of the company and have certain rights. But I did not participate in the operation of any club. Sometimes when I see my former players raise the trophy, I won’t say who they are, but they believe me privately: “Please don’t tell anyone that I won this trophy for you. When we lift the trophy, I feel like you are beside us.” This makes me feel very warm, because people who have meaning for me treat me like this. I have always been good to them. These are my most important things. I don’t care about other things. I am already a billionaire. I have done enough. I can relax. So no matter what I do next, it is definitely not for money.
In September, Carlos posted a video on his personal social account of participating in a party with the controversial foreign online celebrity Andrew Tate, who was considered sexist and women-shating. So Carlos got into a reputation scandal. Afterwards, G2 Esports issued an official statement apologizing for the behavior of CEO Carlos. A few days later, Carlos announced that he would leave the club. It is said that this situation led to the loss of a place in the Valorant franchise alliance.
Since Carlos left, G2 Esports has won several trophies in different fields. The CSGO team won the 2022 BLAST World Finals and the 2023 IEM Katowitz, the Rainbow Six team won the 2023 six-man invitational, and the Valorant women’s team won the 2022 VCT GC championship.
