Rumor: Valve is Planning to Host a Major in Shanghai in Winter 2024

The tournament will be organized in collaboration with Perfect World, the distributor of CS in China, and PGL, who is also responsible for organizing the first Major in 2024 and CS2’s inaugural Major.

The RMR (Regional Major Ranking) qualifiers for this event are scheduled to take place from October 26th to November 13th, with the Major itself set to run from December 1st to December 15th, two weeks later. These dates align with Valve’s recent proposal for the four Major events in 2025-2026, which are planned to conclude in mid-June and early December of each season.

If the PW CS2 Major in Shanghai proceeds as planned, it will be the first Major event hosted in Asia. According to sources, Valve had previously considered partnering with an Asian location to host the second Major event in 2023, with China and Singapore being among the potential venues. However, they canceled that Major due to the expected launch of CS2.
