What’s Your Screen Resolution?

Every CSGO professional player has their own unique settings, ranging from mouse sensitivity and keyboard shortcuts to screen resolution. Amidst the diverse preferences for mouse sensitivity, many players tend to agree on one thing: screen resolution.

Only GuardiaN remains committed to the 800x600 resolution. How about you?

In recent years, most professional players have adopted a stretched 4:3 aspect ratio with a resolution of 1280×960. This widens the character models in the game, making it easier to eliminate enemies. This resolution was popularized by Oleksandr Kostyliev, known as s1mple, and many others have since followed suit.

However, Ladislav ‘GuardiaN’ Kovács is an exception. GuardiaN uses a remarkably low resolution of 800×600, which makes it challenging to spot enemies at a distance.

Additionally, GuardiaN doesn’t use stretching, resulting in two large black bars on the sides of his screen. But 800×600 has its advantages; it allows you to focus on the current area, leading to faster reactions to enemy appearances. Although no players currently use such a low resolution, the 4:3 aspect ratio with black bars remains popular, as seen with Dmitry ‘sh1ro’ Sokolov and Dzhami ‘Jame’ Ali.

Another factor worth noting is Frames Per Second (FPS). Lower resolutions notably boost FPS, although for professional players, their computer setups don’t typically need to consider this factor extensively.

GuardiaN is still active in the CSGO competitive scene. His last official match was in the autumn of 2022 while playing for Sampi. His future path remains uncertain.
