Fernando ‘fer’ Alvarenga has been keeping a low profile in the competitive scene since the beginning of this year.

In a recent livestream on Monday, fer stated that he would only return to the competitive scene if he teams up with Gabriel ‘FalleN’ Toledo. Unfortunately, FalleN doesn’t trust fer in their new project.

fer Discusses FalleN's Lack of Trust: I Understand His Perspective

According to fer, they were planning to form a great team together, which was expected to be announced soon. However, FalleN was not willing to join. Even though fer later received invitations, he had already lost interest in joining any team.

“FalleN has his reasons for not joining, perhaps he doesn’t trust me enough, and I can understand his perspective. I admit that I have been somewhat inconsistent in the past, as evident from my time with Imperial, where I quit halfway through. FalleN is probably worried that I would start with great enthusiasm and then quit again midway. I am disappointed, as I wanted to compete with him.”

“As for FURIA, one of the reasons they didn’t approach me is likely because they wanted FalleN, and FalleN probably said the same thing to them. It’s quite normal. Since I cannot be teammates with FalleN again, I declined all the offers.”

fer expressed that his feelings are not disappointment towards FalleN, but rather a sense of disillusionment with the world: “FalleN also put his whole career on the line. Of course, I am disappointed, but I understand his position. I can only face him normally and there’s nothing else I can do.”

Since leaving Imperial in January this year, fer hasn’t joined any other team. He was long-time teammates with FalleN and together they won two Major championships in 2016.

After FalleN joined Liquid, the two temporarily separated, and Last Dance and Imperial became the stages of their reunion. Earlier this year, fer mentioned that he had financially supported the team in the early days of Last Dance.

Last month, fer mentioned personal reasons for not wanting to continue in a team that kept losing: “My mother’s health hasn’t been great, and when we were playing the World Cup, my teammates didn’t want me to leave. Later, when we returned to Brazil, I couldn’t see the future I wanted. I’ve been working hard since I was 17, and now I want to spend more time with my family. This is my personal sacrifice.”

“I devoted myself to the game. I tried my best to perform, but the team couldn’t achieve the results I wanted. This was particularly difficult.”

In the end, chelo followed FalleN to join FURIA. FURIA’s new lineup will make its debut in the IEM Cologne Play-In stage on July 26th.
